WM Schools Championships – POSTPONED
Unfortunately the West Midlands Schools Champs that was due to take place on 30/5/26 at Pype Hayes Park has had to be postponed. Ian Gamlen (HOC) is hoping to rearrange it some time later in the year – perhaps September or October 2026.

Do we need a WMOA newsletter?
Do we need a WMOA newsletter? Could you compile it?
The Association is the coordinating body for Orienteering within the West Midlands region. Without it there would be no Junior Squad, no qualifying rounds for National Competitions, no WM leagues, championships and relays. And no hosting of the larger events that require cooperation between more than one club.
To do all of those things successfully it needs to communicate effectively. There is a host of information is on our website, but how many people check that regularly? Historically we have relied on a newsletter to inform, engage and even entertain our membership,
You can browse a couple of different styles here. The more recent “news round ups” were published quarterly and followed a simple formula:
- Created after each of the quarterly WMOA committee meetings, including a link to the minutes, and highlighting any discussions for a wider audience.
- Looked back at the WMOA events over the preceding quarter.
- Looked forward to WMOA events over the next quarter.
- Published event reports from Juniors receiving WMOA to attend events / training camps.
It is not a very time consuming task, but somebody new and enthusiastic is required to undertake it.
