The League points have been updated after event five at Sutton Park. This time it was Octavian Droobers with home advantage, and they now lead the club competition by less than 50 points from Walton Chasers. However Harlequins are only 40 points futher back, with home advantage for the penultimate event on the 20th November at Wyche Ridge. And with Wrekin close behind in fourth place the competition is very far from over.

Location: Car parking at the ‘World of Wedgwood’. Post code: ST12 9ER. Follow brown signs for Wedgwood. Park on main visitor carpark. The orienteering event will be adjacent to the coach park. Look out for the POTOC feather banner.
Entries: Enter on the day. Starts from 10.00 to 12.00
Terrain notes: Potteries Orienteering club’s first event at this area. Hem Heath is entirely wooded but courses will also cross the adjoining Wedgwood Park (a quiet residential area). It is managed by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. The forest comprises of a good mix of ancient broadleaf and coniferous plantation areas. Tree species include 400 year old oaks, ash, cherry, sycamore and beech. The area is dotted with holly thickets and there is a network of ditches, earth walls and gullies. These combine to create a genuine orienteering challenge. Undergrowth varies across the map, courses have been designed to avoid the more brambly areas.
Facilities: World of Wedgwood contains the Wedgwood factory, visitor centre, museum shop and a range of cafes / restaurants. Why not take a look around the Wedgwood museum after your run (free entry).

The minutes of the AGM held 24 October 2022 are now on the website. These are subject to ratification at the 2023 AGM on the 2nd October – a date for you new diary!
The Wrekin Orienteers’ event in Wrockwardine Wood will not be going ahead on 27th November 2022.
It is hoped that the event will be held in the first part of 2023.
The League points have been updated after the fourth event at Hayward Warren and it looks like an exciting competition with another four events this Autumn.
Walton Chasers used home advantage to overtake Octavian Droobers, but both Harlequins and Wrekin are close behind. Next event is on the 13th November at Sutton Park.
A reminder that this course is happening on Saturday 29 October, based at the Sea Ranger hut in Sutton Park. There is space for more attendees; just get in touch with Henry Morgan, the organiser. Full details are here, including Henry’s contact details.
The new date for the AGM will be Monday 24th October at 7-30 pm at Great Barr Hotel.

The final event in this year’s league was held yesterday and the results have been added to the league results page.
Unfortunately sickness has struck key attendees, with others unable to attend.
We have decided to postpone the meeting, hopefully to Monday 24th October at the same venue but this is not yet confirmed.
